Not so far from the capital city of Serbia, there is located the second-biggest city of Novi Sad. 90Km north-west of Belgrad, one of the most beautiful cities of Serbia attracts many tourists, especially those who look for quite place without metropolis' crowds.
Novi Sad was established as a suburb area of the Petrovaradin fortress in the end of the 17th century, so it can't boast a long and rich history. However, the city offers unique charm and atmosphere. Tourists can visit the Petrovaradin fortress, which is called 'Gibraltar of the Danube River' due to its location on rocks and monumental size. It is worth noticing that there is a unusual clock on the Clock Tower which a long hand indicates hours and the small one – minutes. Novi Sad can be discovered on foot and it is the best option. A park, narrow streets, interesting monuments, murals, beautiful churches, squares surrounded by renovated buildings, a synagogue – all that can be admired during a pleasant walking.
Besides visiting museums and other city's landmarks, there are many other attractions such as music festivals, cultural events. The most important music festival is EXIT Festival offering a broad range music genres: Rock, Dance, Reggae, Hip-Hop, Folk, i Techno. Funs of active tourism can also find something of interest to them. Hiking tours to the Fruska Mountain are organized every Sunday nearby Novi Sad. There is also a beach Stand considered to be one of the most beautiful on the whole Danube River.
